Approving a new article of impeachment against 74-year-old President Donald Trump, 80-year-old House Speaker Nancy Pelosi proved she has no mercy for the defeated incumbent, only wants to make his life miserable before-and-after he leaves office Jan. 20. Charging Trump with “incitement of insurrection,” the Democrat-controlled House showed that are no limits to the sadism toward Trump regardless of his Nov. 3, 2020 loss to 78-year-old President-elect Joe Biden. House Democrats couldn’t eject Trump from office on the first impeachment Dec. 18, 2019, hoping the second time around they can permanently damage Trump’s reputation. Trump was acquitted Feb. 5, 2020 of Pelosi’s first impeachment attempt, now hopes she can inflict as much damage on the president as possible. Democrats know he’ll be leaving office Jan. 20, making you wonder about yesterday’s impeachment.
Apart from pure vindictiveness, Pelosi weaponized her Article 1 authority to impeach Trump for the second time, hoping he’s convicted in the Senate once Biden becomes president. When your read the latest article of impeachment, it makes zero sense. Trump didn’t incite an insurrection, a few bad apples from his crowd went ballistic, stormed the Capitol, defaced government property and hurt the cause for all of Trump’s 75 million supporters that voted for him Nov. 3, 2020. Reviewing the YouTube video of his Jam. 6 speech in Washington, D.C. proves that Trump told his supporters to march peacefully to the Capitol. He didn’t, as the House impeachment article says, engage in “incitement of insurrection.” All real insurrections come from well-armed militias, not from misanthropes, misfits and losers that took selfies while illegally trespassing on government property.
No Democrats voting for impeachment can possibly think that the Jan. 6 riot by an unruly mob was there to topple the U.S. government. Yet that’s how Pelosi’s brain trust worded the impeachment article, “incitement of insurrection.” However Pelosi tortures logic and basic definitions, Trump was guilty of delivering a speech, something protected under the First Amendment. No one held Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D.-N.Y.) and other Democrat elected officials accountable for the four months of rioting, looting, arson and anarchy over the 2020 summer. When Trump gives a speech and small fraction of his audience breaks the law, the House holds Trump responsible by impeaching him. Since when does giving a speech constitute “high-crimes-and-misdemeanors”? Democrat House members blamed Trump for “incitement of insurrection,” a complete fiction.
Democrats not only want to falsely charge Trump with “incitement of insurrection,” they want to destroy his real estate business and reputation. Since when do elected officials go beyond the oaths of office to go after Trump’s personal reputation? Nothing in his Jan. 6 speech said anything about storming the Capitol or committing any crimes. Trump put out a video today saying he wanted the Jan. 20 inauguration to go smoothly, peacefully without any disruptions from protesters. Responding to his overture, the media accused Trump of trying to rehab his brand, something so bizarre, so inappropriate, it shows they’re out not to enforce the rule of law but to damage Trump personally. “The brand is becoming radioactive,” said an unnamed Trump ally. “That matters more to him, because that’s going to have real, tangible effects on his life immediately,” referring to his lifestyle.
Losing business relationships like the Professional Golfers Assn. [PGA] or multimillion dollar contracts with New York City, hurts Trump’s bottom line when he leaves the White House. Trump now faces a possible impeachment trial in the Senate, something that will no doubt end in acquittal like the first impeachment trial. Crafting an impeachment article on “incitement of insurrection” loses on two grounds. One, because Trump didn’t incite his audience to commit violence and two, because there was no insurrection, only the same kind of mob violence seen over the 2020 summer. No one blamed Democrat elected officials for the unending race riots that went on for months. Listening to Trump’s enemies like Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wy.) blame Trump for the Capitol insurrection shows that politics, not facts, drive Democrats and some Republicans to lash out at Trump.
No U.S. elected officials should concern themselves about damaging Trump business or personal brand or linking the impeachment to his post-White House future. Talking about Trump trying to rehab himself, Democrats show that their intent with Trump goes beyond impeachment into damaging his business and personal reputation. When the Senate meets after Jan. 20 to take up an impeachment trial, it might not be Constitutional to try the president when he’s out of office. What’s the purpose of impeachment if Trump has left office? It raises the question whether or not the House can weaponize its Article 1 power for pure vindictiveness, not to remove Trump from office because they fear adverse consequences to his presidency. As it stands now, it looks like “V” for vendetta to continue any impeachment process without any legal or Constitutional justification.
