Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, 60, continues to make a fool of himself running for president, talking trash on liberal TV, radio and print about 77-year-old former President Donald Trump. Christie is a non-entity in the 2024 race with a 2.4% aggregate polling in a not very competitive GOP field with Trump running well over 50% for GOP primary voters. Christie acts like he’s the Trump slayer, put in the race for the sole purpose of sabotaging Trump’s 20024 chances but, so far, he’s been foiled with Trump refusing to step on the same debate stage. Christie tried to browbeat Trump into attending t he Aug. 23 Fox New debate, with Trump ignoring his demands. Now Christie says that if Trump doesn’t go to the Alabama GOP debate, he’s going to follow Trump around the country. There’s no low too low for Christie to stoop in his anti-Trump publicity campaign.
So Christie plans to stalk Trump if he doesn’t jump through Christie’s hoops when it comes to debating. Christie hoped for another Sen. Marco Rubio moment, when he had one good experience running for president in 2016. Christie confronted Rubio and Rubio fell apart. Does Christie really think with everything Trump’s gone through, serving as president and now indicted four times, that’s he’s going to flinch? Trump can handle Christie’s antics but, with a 50-point lead on his nearest rival, there’s no reason for Trump to debate anyone. Voters know Trump’s positions on most topics and have no need to see him playing around on a debate stage. That’s left to non-entities like Christie who has no traction in the 2024 GOP race? Speaking to Fox New “MediaBuzz” with Howard Kurtz today, Christie said he’s sure Trump won’t attend the Sept. 27 Reagan Library GOP debate.
Christie likes to hark back to his days as a U.S. Atty. where he went after Mafia bosses and other White Collar criminals. “Did Trump defuse your strategy of going toe-to-toe with him by staying off the debate stage?” Kurtz asked Christie. “I’m sure he’s not coming to the Reagan debate. We’ll give him another chance in Alabama.,” Christie said, referring to another planned GOP debate. “But if he doesn’t come there, then I’m going to follow him around the country,” Christie said, sounding crazy. Today’s frenzy for headlines, the media forgets quickly that Christie was embroiled in potentially career-ending scandal at the time he ran for president in 2016. Chrisite was investigated by New Jersey for his role in Bridgegate, where his underlings shut down lanes on the GW Bridge to Fort Lee, New Jersey to punish former Fort Lee Mayor Marck Sokolich for no supporting Christie’s reelection.
Chiritie’s Bridgegate scandal upended his political life during the end days of his time tin Trenton. While Christie escaped prosecution, Trump could not offer him a Cabinet position, not knowing how Bridggate would turn out. Christie wanted to be attorney general, something he holds as a grudge against Trump. Like 2016, Christie ended his run for president early because of his abysmal polls. Today’s run shows no signs of being any different than 2016 when Christie dropped out after South Carolina, right after the New Hampshire primary. Christie could not be serious telling Kurtz that he’d chase Trump around the country if he doesn’t show up to debate in Alabama. Christie said 38-year-old fellow GOP candidate former Internet entrepreneur Vivek
Ramaswamy is not a “serious” candidate. When compared to Christie, Ramaswamy has double the polls at 6.6%.
Chrtistie serves the Lincoln Project anti-Trump cause in 2024, directed by conservative Bill Kristol and led by Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Ut.) to prevent Trump from winning the 2024 nomination. Unlike 2016, when the Lincoln Project did everything possible to upend Trump, including backing his rival former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.). When Trump won the presidency, Democrats and anti-Trump Republicans continued to spread the same lies contained in Hillary’s paid opposition research AKA the Steele dossier, that Trump was a Russian asset. Christie back Trump in 2016 before his Bridgegate scandal prevents him from getting a Cabinet appointment. Christie’s disloyalty toward Trump knows no boundaries, telling Kurtz he would track him to the end of the earth to confront him. Christie said he would work his schedule around following Trump.
Christie continues to get access on liberal TV, radio and print outlets, looking like the HuffPost to slam Trump at every opportunity. Christie has no qualms about using the liberal press to go after Trump, knowing he has nothing to lose while running for president. Trump wouldn’t give Christie the time of day at this point, largely because the former New Jersey Gov. has sour grapes over not receiving a Cabinet appointment in Trump’s four years in office. Christie won’t have the same media appeal to the anti-Trump community, once he drops out of the 2024 race. Christie can’t deal with his abysmal popularity, unable to get any traction in his 2024 campaign. Christie acts like he’s running neck-and-neck with Trump, when he’s running behind more serious candidates like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former U.S. Amb. Nikki Haley and 38-year-old upstart Vivek Ramaswamy.
