Ukraine’s 45-year-old President Volodymyr Zelensky interfered with the 2024 presidential election, disputing comments at May 10 CNN town hall meeting, saying 76-year-old President Donald Trump never tried to stop a Russian invasion of Ukraine. Zelensky knows that the invasion didn’t start until Trump was out of office by over a year, starting Feb. 24, 2022. “Trump was president, we had a meeting. There was no full-scale invasion at the time, but there was a war . . . I’m not sure whether he was deeply involved in this issue at the time, but he didn’t solve it,” Zelensky said. Zelensky’s criticism of Trump’s remarks at a CNN town hall interfere with a U.S. election, essentially saying Trump did nothing to stop the eight-year-old war in Donbas, started in 2014 after the Russian annexation of Crimea. Zelensky’s remarks show he and his lieutenants follow American politics closely.

Zelensky’s comments are designed to lend support to 80-year-old President Joe Biden’s proxy war against the Kremlin, causing many problems for U.S. foreign policy, not to mention an over $200 billion price tag. Zelensky knows that the history of conflict with Russia, at least recently, started Feb. 22, 2014 when a CIA-backed pro-Western coup toppled the Kremlin-backed Kiev government of Viktor Yanukovych. Once Yanukovych was ousted from Kiev, 70-year-old Russian President no lnnger had protection for his Sevastopol, Crimea naval base. After hosting the Sochi Winter Olympics, Putin annexed Crimea March 1, 2024. Former President Brack Oboama and Vice President Joe Biden did nothing in 2014 to help Ukraine get back lost territory. Today’s Ukraine War goes back to the CIA-backed Kiev coup that toppled the Kremlin-backed Kiev government.

Zelensky’s comments reflect his wish to keep Biden in office to continue supplying billions to Kiev’s bankrupt government and fighting the Kremlin. “No one has solved the issue. And because no has solved it, we could not get out of this situation . . .” Zelensky said, hinting Trump gave Putin the green light to attack Ukraine. “That is, you can do this. We need to wait a little longer, we need to work with the countries and we can go further. That’s why he went further,” Zelensky said, reacting to Trump’s May 10 statement that he would end the war in 24 hours. Trump’s message was clear: The Ukraine War is a colossal waste of Treasury tax dollars on a war not in U.S. national security interest. Zelensky understands that Trump would pull the plug on his government and military funding if he wins the election. Zelensky has a vested interest in keeping Biden in office.

When Trump says he’d end the Ukraine War after taking office, he’d put Zelensky on notice that the U.S. government will no longer foot the bill. Zelensky has his ears tuned into U.S. politics, knowing that there are growing doubts about the Ukraine War. Trump is the only presidential candidate so far to guarantee that he wouldn’t continue the conflict. Asked the May 10 CNN town hall who he’d like to win the war by 31-year-old host Kaitlan Collins, Trump said he wanted the killing to stop. CNN plays Democrat cheerleader, backing Biden’s Ukraine War, largely because it’s OK’d with the Democrat Party. Unlike Biden that has pushed Europe to the brink of WW III, Trump would do everything to end the conflict. Without the war, Zelensky would not have the funds to pay for his Kiev government. Ending the war would be a disaster for Zelensky’s Kiev government.

Zelensky claims that he wants the war to end but only if Putin is tried as a war criminal at The Hague, Kiev receives reparations from Moscow and only if Russian troops leave every inch of Ukraine. Russian troops were in Donetsk, Luhansk and Crimea before the Feb. 24, 2022 invasion. Zelensky keeps promising Washington and Brussels that he’ll oust Putin from all of Ukraine with more lethal U.S. and NATO weapons. Without U.S. funding the Kiev government and war effort, the war would have ended long ago. Zelensky and Biden have sold the war as protecting European democracy against today’s Hitler-like menace, Vladimir Putin. Biden and Zelensky know that war-torn, bankrupt Ukraine protects its own interests, certainly not Europe’s. NATO was designed to keep the old Soviet Union now the Russian Federation at bay, from encroaching on Europe.

Zelensky’s public remarks about Trump are a blatant attempt to influence the 2024 election, seeking to see Biden reelected to continue the billions in U.S. aid. Kiev’s brain trust listened attentively to the May 10 town hall meeting for any signs Trump would stop the open spigot of cash to Kiev. Zelensky knows that Trump opposes the Ukraine War because it wrecks U.S.-Russian relations, all because of his border dispute with the Kremlin. U.S. foreign policy can’t return to normal until decades of détente has been restored with Moscow. As long as Biden fights Ukraine’s battle, the U.S. cannot have normal relations with the Kremlin. Zelensky’s public remarks are designed to put his two cents into the 2024 election. When influence comes from Ukraine, it’s not disinformation, only a pat on the back for Biden. As 2024 gets closer, Ukraine’s propaganda will get louder.
