New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu, 48, slammed 76-year-old former President Donald Trump and 44-year-old Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for opposing the Ukraine War. Sununu is considering a 2024 presidential run, wanting to distinguish himself from other GOP candidates, despite the fact that DeSantis has not declared himself a 2024 candidate yet. Sununu said that Trump and DeSantis’ Ukraine policy “is not a viable foreign policy,” throwing his support to Biden’s reckless foreign policy alienating Russia and China. Sununu drank the White House Cool-Aid that without the Ukraine proxy war against the Kremlin, 70-year-old Russian President Vladimir Putin will take over Europe. Sununu has no facts to back up his claim, only buying White House talking points. President Joe Biden, 80, has no evidence that Putin plans to invade other European countries.
Sununu knows so little about foreign policy, he blames Trump and DeSantis for opposing Biden’s reckless Ukraine policy. Where does Sununu think Biden’s policy will end? Negotiations with the Kremlin or WW III or nuclear war? “Simply opposing aid to Ukraine because President Biden supports it is not a viable policy,” Sununu said. Trump and Biden don’t oppose Biden’s policy for only political reasons, they oppose it because it harms the U.S. and world economy and endangers world peace. Sununu scores no points politically by backing Biden’s proxy war against the Russian Federation. No president in U.S. history has gone to war against the Russian Federation, preferring instead to spend time on diplomacy, finding common ground with America’s historic communist adversary. Sununu agrees with Democrats and the U.S. press backing Biden’s proxy war.
` Trump said Biden’s Ukraine policy “is unfair to us,” while DeSantis said Ukraine “is not in the U.S. vital interests,” rejecting Biden and Ukraine’s 44-year-old President Volodymyr Zelensky’s talking points that if Putin isn’t stopped in Ukraine, he’ll take over the rest of Europe. “Some in the Republican Party have lost their moral compass on foreign policy as evidenced by former President Donald Trump who once called Putin’s invasion ‘genius and savvy,’” Sununu wrote. “As Americans, we should all support freedom, not abandon it,” spewing White House platitudes. Ukraine doesn’t protect freedom in Europe, it only wants as much cash-and-weapons a can get to pay its bankrupt Kiev government and war against the Kremlin. Sununu repeats Biden’s warn out talking points on Ukraine. War-torn and bankrupt Kiev can’t possibly defend Europe’s democracy.
Sununu acts like Biden’s foreign policy is the right one for U.S. national security when the Assn. of Atomic Scientists said recently that Biden pushed the doomsday clock closer to midnight or nuclear Armageddon. Sununu thinks the American public backs Biden’s policy, when, in fact, they’ve been sold a bill of goods by he White House. Giving more cash-and-weapons doesn’t defend democracy in Europe, it jeopardizes it by increasing the chances of WW III and nuclear war. In two short years, Biden has made mortal enemies of Russia and China, ending decades of détente with both nuclear-armed superpowers. Sununu mistakenly thinks that the public backs Biden’s Ukraine policy, watching members of the GOP say that the U.S. can’t give Ukraine a blank check. Backing the Ukraine War doesn’t protect Europe’s democracy, it threatens a stable peace.
Sununu has no chance of gaining much support from GOP or independent voters should he decide to throw his hat in the ring. Whether Sununu knows it or not, growing numbers of U.S. citizens don’t back Biden’s reckless policy of starting a proxy war with the Kremlin. If Putin threatens Europe’s democracy, he’ll have NATO to deal with, not war-torn and bankrupt Ukraine. Zelensky told U.S. lawmakers that the Ukraine war was an investment in European democracy. Without U.S. funding the bankrupt Ukraine government and war, Kiev would have no resources to battle the Kremlin. Zelensky made a grave mistake going to war against the Kremlin in hopes of winning back its sovereign territory. Putin has no intention of surrendering to Ukraine or the U.S Sununu thinks GOP and independent voters back Biden’s proxy war against the Russian Federation.
Sununu could not be more wrong thinking GOP and independent voters back Biden’s Ukraine policy. Trump and DeSantis give a new voice to disgruntled voters that don’t accept perpetual war as good for America and the world. Sununu asks the public to think that peace in Europe is the wrong policy. Trump and DeSantis see Biden’s proxy war as another blunder by a cognitively impaired president. Recent polls show that Democrats and Republicans think it’s a bad idea for an 82-year-old to run for a second term. Sununu offers no alternative to Biden’s bad judgment only for more of the same. Telling the public that backing the Ukraine War today will cost the U.S. less than ending it is preposterous. How does Sununu know that Ukraine can defend Europe’s democracy? He’s repeating Biden and Zelensky’s illogical rationale for continuing a reckless war.
