Showing why 80-year-old Chief of the Bethesda, Md.-based National Institutes of Health Allergy and Infectious Disease Agency Anthony Fauci is ready for retirement, he warned March 29 that 100,000 to 200,000 Americans could die in the coronavirus AKA SARS-CoV-2 or Covid-19 crisis. When Fauci issued his warning, there was 36,207 deaths worldwide, yet Fauci saw fit to whip up more mass hysteria. If anything, he’s watching the same numbers as everyone else and knows that the SARS CoV-2 pandemic is beginning to slow down. Fauci’s the favorite of the alarmist press that’s also been hyping the pandemic, creating widespread panic in ordinary citizens. While there’s nothing wrong with urging citizens to comply with “shelter in place” orders, there’s something very wrong with distorting the facts. All indications point to the coronavirus beginning to taper off.

With 752,288 total cases worldwide and 36,207 deaths, there’s reason to believe that the number in hotspots like Italy and the United States are starting to slow. Italy has 101,739 total cases, 4,050 new cases and 11,591 deaths, but the rate of increase has slowed over the last two weeks. Italy got hit hard with coronavirus since it has the largest percentage of Chinese tourists of any country. Chinese tourists already infected with SARS CoV-2 flooded into Italy during the holidays, some of whom attended Italy’s popular football games where thousands of locals aggregated. By the time China admitted in January that they were dealing with a serious epidemic it was too late for Italy. Coronavirus originated in Wuhan, China where SARS CoV-2 was spawned in Wuhan’s wild animal market, the same place SARS came from in 2003. Yet the Communist Chinese government said nothing.

China’s gross negligence in warning the world about the SARS CoV-2 outbreak caused the virus to jump borders, while Chinese tourists blithely traveled with their highly contagious infections around the globe. Only recently has British Prime Minister Boris Johnson realized the extent of Chinese subterfuge. Johnson himself contracted coronavirus last week, saying there would be a reckoning with China. When Johnson heard March 14 China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Zhao Linjian blame the U.S. military for the outbreak, Johnson had heard enough. With the U.K. with 2,141 total cases, 2,619 new cases and 1,408 deaths, Johnson said he’ll now reassess his 5G telecom contract with Huawei. Trump warned Johnson to avoid Huawei because of national security concerns. Johnson now leads the charge among foreign leaders to call China out for the global coronavirus pandemic.

Whatever the origins and mismanagement of SARS CoV-2 by China, Fauci should not be warning the public about 100,00 to 200,000 deaths when the global death rate has begun to slow down. Hot spot like New York and Italy continue to rise but not at the same rate over the last month. “Between 100,000 and 200.000 people may die from Covid-19,” Fauci said March 29. Speaking on CNN’s State of the Union Sunday, Fauci’s used by the anti-Trump media to underscore Trump’s mishandling to the crisis. Recent polls indicate that growing numbers of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of the crisis, prompting CNN to use Fauci as a foil to Trump. Fauci’s gloomy forecast on CNN was designed to keep people to “:shelter in place,” at a time when many American want to go back to work. Fauci’s narrow focus on disease control doesn’t look at the big picture of creating a new Great Depression.

When Trump didn’t include Fauci in his daily press briefs, CNN whipped up conspiracy theories about cover-ups and other White House mischief. Fauci’s been a reassuring voice but clearly isn’t the best spokesperson for the country during the crisis. Whether admitted to or not, there are far more articulate infectious disease experts in the medical community to disseminate information to the public. “It’s such a moving target that you could so easily be wrong and mislead people,” Fauci told National Public Radio, talking about people making predictions. He didn’t get that he’s talking about himself, forecasting 100,000 to 200,000 deaths in the U.S. More widespread testing in the U.S. has bumped up the total coronavirus cases, making it look the outbreak has suddenly gotten worse. “Now it’s not impossible, but very, very unlikely,” Fauci said about millions of Americans dying.

Fauci’s prediction of 100,000 to 200,00 defies his own words that it’s difficult for anyone to hazard predictions, yet he made them anyway. With the frenzy of testing going on the U.S., it’s going to look like there’s a spike in total cases, when it fact the coronavirus spread has begun to slow down. While it’s better to be safe than sorry, Fauci didn’t follow his own advice forecasting 100,000 to 200,000 deaths. Trump’s stuck with Fauci because he’s become the liberal press’s main foil against Trump in the Covid-19 crisis. Trump defied the liberal press yesterday ordering “shelter in place” order to continue through April 30. By Easter, as Trump said before, the epidemic will look differently than today, showing signs of slowing down. Outrageous predictions by California Gov. Gavin Newsom and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo have proved wrong. Fauci fell into the same trap.
