Disgracing herself and the Democrat Party Tuesday night at end of the 2020 State-of-the-Union Speech, 80-year-old House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tore up Trump’s speech on national TV. Losing control of herself, there was nothing deliberate or planned about Pelosi’s intemperate outburst, boiling over after realizing 73-year-old President Donald Trump was going to humiliate her in the U.S. Senate Wednesday, Feb. 5. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) finished his script, acquitting Trump in short order, ending Pelosi’s ill-fated impeachment trial. Publicly flogged after trying to go toe-to-toe with Trump, Pelosi lost control of herself on national TV, tearing up Trump’s speech. Since then, she’s tried to rehab herself, justifying here disgraceful behavior, telling the press it was due to Trump’s lies. “It was the courteous thing to do,” Pelosi said after ripping up the speech.
Pelosi’s changed her story several times, trying to rehab herself in the public’s eye, after breaching every known rule of political protocol. Yet Pelosi knows she has a more-than-willing press to accept any feeble explanation to justify her inexcusable conduct. “The president is to submit in writing or in person his statement of the state of the union. What happened instead was the president using the Congress of the United States as a backdrop of a reality show, presenting a state of mind that had no contact with reality whatsoever,” Pelosi said in a barely coherent statement. Presidents always give their version of reality in State-of-the-Union speeches. There’s nothing about Trump’s speech that was any different from his predecessor, former President Barack Obama or his predecessor former President George W. Bush. Pelosi’s excuses make less sense the more she talks.
Boiling over with rage after ripping up Trump’s speech, Pelosi tried her best to make excuses for her inappropriate behavior. “Last night we saw the president of the United State shred the truth right in front of us. Tear up the truth,” giving the first glimpse into her rationale for boorish behavior. Yet for the last two days, Pelosi has found every press audience possible to make up more excuses. Railing about Trump’s treatment of the Affordable Care Act, Pelosi made up more excuses. “When, in fact, he has done everything to dismantle it,” Pelosi said, trying to excuse tearing up Trump’s speech. “That misrepresentation was appalling and so clearly untrue,” Pelosi said, referring to Trump statements about preserving “preexisting conditions” in any replacement of Obamacare. More-and-more excuses, Pelosi couldn’t answer why she lost control of herself.
Pelosi denied that Trump’s failure to shake her hand at the beginning of his speech hand nothing to do with her tearing it up. “I tore up a manifesto of mistruths,” Pelosi said, trying to win media backing. “It was necessary to get the attention of the American people to say this is not true. And this is how it affects,” Pelosi said, completely excusing her actions. Other than the most partisan backers, Pelosi lost the lion’s share of voters who understand political differences but reject classless public displays. No matter how you slice it, Pelosi’s conduct went out of bounds, much like an angry schoolyard bully. “I don’t need any lessons form anybody, especially from the president of the United States, about dignity,” Pelosi said, showing why she’s hurting the Democrats Party losing emotional control There’s was nothing planned or deliberate when Pelosi tore up Trump’s speech.
Denying that Trump failing to shake her hand had anything to do with her actions, Pelosi can’t keep her story straight why she tore up the speech. “I have tried to be gracious with him. I am always dignified. I though it was a very dignified act,” Pelosi said. Speaking to the press, Pelosi can’t possibly think anyone believes her excuses. When she crossed the line, tearing up her copy, at the end of Trump’s speech, Pelosi showed why she’s no longer fit for duty as House Speaker. However she wished to protest Trump’s speech, it’s not like Democrats didn’t get equal time, watching Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-Tx.) deliver Democrats’ rebuttal. Yet Pelosi thinks the press and voters buy her explanation that she was so outraged about the contents of Trump’s speech. Pelosi lost it because she couldn’t take the public humiliation knowing she failed to get Trump tossed out of office.
All the excuses in the world don’t give Pelosi the license to disgrace the Democrat Party on national TV. Trump delivered a commanding speech, whether you agreed with one word of it. Pelosi lost control of herself because she knew she was beaten by Trump. When you consider the Senate voted to convict-or-acquit Trump the day after the State-fo-the-Union speech, it would have been the height of phoniness for Trump to shake her hand. Pelosi has many excuses why she tore up Trump State-of-the-Union Speech. But the bottom line is she had a temper tantrum, the very thing she accused Trump of on many occasions. Looking in charge-and-command, Trump made the House Speaker look weak, ineffectual and old. Tearing up Trump’s speech was a childish way of expressing her anger for all to see. Whether she resigns or not, Pelosi showed she’s not fit to continue as House Speaker.
