House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has declared war on 72-year-old President Donald Trump, back to her old tricks of getting Trump to walk out of meetings. Pelosi said yesterday that Trump was engaged in a “cover up” related to Russian collusion or obstruction of justice, prompting today’s incident. Arriving at the White House for infrastructure talks, Pelosi said Trump needed an “intervention,” saying he wasn’t fit for office. That was the same tactic Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), used when they refused to give Trump any cash for his border wall Dec. 22, 2018, prompting the government shutdown. Pelosi’s latest tactic shows that she wants Trump to storm out of meetings to show he’s unfit for office, something Democrats have been saying since he was sworn in Jan. 20, 2017. Democrats refuse accept the March 22 Final Special Counsel Report.
Since taking over Congress Jan. 3, House Democrats have opened up several investigations into Trump’s alleged obstruction of justice in the Mueller probe, despite the fact the Special Counsel refused to prosecute him. Trump told Pelosi that there could be no infrastructure talks until after the House ended its investigations, including on Trump’s personal finances. Democrats have a clear strategy heading into the 2020 elections, branding Trump as stonewalling Congress and unfit for office. “I wish that his family or administration of his staff would have an intervention for the good of the country,” Pelosi said, infuriating Trump. If you listen to Pelosi, it’s clear she’s the one with the neurological issues, clearly bating Trump to react. But when you consider her insults, it’s entirely reasonable for Trump to end any further talks with the antagonistic House Speaker.
Suggesting an “intervention,” Pelosi wants to continue the narrative espoused by a group of psychiatrists led by Yale’s Dr. Bandy Lee, whose anti-Trump group insists he’s unfit for the office. Pelosi and Lee have been trying to remove Trump from office under the 25th Amendment, claiming the president is mentally incapacitated. Insulting Trump in the White House is par-for-the-course for Pelosi, trying to appear like she’s in control Any cursory look at Pelosi indicates that she’s the one suffering from some kind of palsy or neurological deficit, not Trump. “Maybe he wants a leave of absence,” Pelosi said, expressing “concern” about Trump’s well-being. When you consider her devious attempt to discredit Trump, it sets the tone for Democrats itching to start an impeachment inquiry, knowing it will fail in the Senate. Pelosi and the Dems couldn’t get Trump on Russian collusion so now he’s unfit for office.
Pelosi’s been playing good-cop, bad-cop on the impeachment issue, claiming she’s trying to contain her party’s progressive wing looking for impeachment. Liberals led by 29-year-old freshman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), have demanded Trump’s impeachment after Mueller essentially cleared Trump March 22 of Russian collusion. Democrats can’t decide which way to go, now that the Mueller Report no longer validates their narrative that Trump’s a “Russian asset.” Started by former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton in 2016, the Russian collusion hoax reached a frenzy May 17, 2017 when Deputy Atty. Gen. Rod Rosenstein appointed Mueller as Special Counsel. Twenty-two months later, Mueller concluded there was no Russian collusion or legal g rounds to charge Trump with obstruction. Yet Pelosi and the Dems continue the criminal narrative.
White House officials have done a poor job of refuting Pelosi’s charges of “cover up” or Trump’s lack of fitness-for-office. “It’s very hard to have a meeting where you accuse the president of the United States of a crime and an hour later show up and act as if nothing happened,” said White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders. Sanders hasn’t pointed out that Pelosi’s new request for an “intervention” speaks volumes about how Democrats hope to approach the 2020 election. If they can’t get Trump on collusion or obstruction, they resort to personal attacks about his fitness for duty. Joking with a reporter, Pelosi quipped about the 25th Amendment. “That’s a good idea. I am going to take it up with my caucus. Not that they haven’t been thinking about it.” Joking about the 25th Amendment, Pelosi exposes her lack of sincerity, grabbing at straws to find any way possible to attack Trump.
Trying to antagonize Trump, Pelosi has reverted back to the pre-shutdown days when she and Schumer pushed Trump close down the government. Once the Muller Report cleared Trump, Democrats have scrambled to find any way possible to discredit Trump before the 2020 election. If Russian collusion or obstruction doesn’t work, then maybe his lack of fitness-for-duty will. Looking to get a rise out of Trump, Pelosi hopes to put more on the public record showing Trump’s erratic behavior. But the public’s wising up to Pelosi’s games, telling him he’s a criminal and, at the same time, unfit for office. Without the Mueller Report, Democrats are back to square-one when it comes to attacking Trump, calling him a criminal or mentally unfit. “The president’s feelings weren’t hurt. She accused him of a crime. Let that sink in,” Sanders said, explaining why Trump walked out.
