Setting the record straight in the 2016 presidential campaign: No one hated Trump more than Trump’s Republican rivals, until he faced former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. Opposition research against Trump was started during the 2016 primaries by political operatives tied to certain GOP candidates, hiring Fusion GPS to begin its nefarious dossier to discredit Trump whose charisma and political skills rolled over the GOP field. Once Trump vanquished his rivals May 26, 2016, the cash dried up, leaving Hillary to continue funding Fusion GPS’s opposition research into Trump lack of fitness for public office. Whatever has been said about the dossier, there’s no disagreement that it was opposition research to sabotage Trump’s campaign. Yesterday, 84-year-old Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-Calif.) released the 315 page transcript of Fusion GPS owner Glenn Simpson.
Released over Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Feintein thinks Simpson’s testimony lends credibility to Hillary’s claim that Trump was a “Putin puppet.” Whatever GOP objections to releasing Simpson’s testimony to the Judiciary Committee, it’s a blessing in disguise. Instead of admitting Simpson was a political hack, Feinstein glorifies Simpson’s credibility, insisting in his testimony that he started the research because he got word from an unnamed source that Trump was compromised by the Russians. Simpson has zero credibility being a hired gun for anyone willing to pay for opposition research. Instead to testifying truthfully that he was paid to discredit Trump first by the GOP then by Hillary, Simpson lied about his concerns about Trump compromised by the Kremlin. Feinstein’s staff conducted the interview with Simpson, making him look credible.
Since Hillary called Trump a “Putin puppet” Oct. 19, 2016 at the last presidential debate in Las Vegas, Democrats have hammered the narrative ever since. Feinstein’s decision yesterday to release the Simpson transcript hopes to make her case. But what it really does is show that Democrats will stop at nothing to establish alleged collusion between Trump and the Kremlin. Neither any Congressional investigation nor Speical Counsel Robert Mueller has found any collusion between the Trump campaign and Moscow. Yet, all Democrats’ talk reported by the mainstream press is about Trump’s allleged collusion. Simpson’s statements of concern about unnamed sources saying Trump was compromised by the Russians are preposterous. Simpson was a paid political hack dredging up anything to discredit Trump, including Hillary’s narrative that he’s as a “Putin puppet.”
Trump was bothered by the release of Simpson’s testimony because he knew it would be backed by the mainstream anti-Trump press. “I owe him an apology and I will give him an apology as soon as I see him,” said Feinstein, about releasing Simpson’s transcript without Grassley’s approval. By releasing Simpson’s testimony, the dossier is now out of the closet, front and center for all to see. There’s nothing to Simpson’s testimony other than the feeble excuse of why he paid former MI6 agent Christopher Steele to dig up dirt on Trump. Republicans want to know whether or not the Obama White House and FBI used the dossier as “probable cause” to wiretap Trump campaign officials. If the FBI used Hillary’s paid opposition research as “probable cause” to wiretap Trump officials, it would be the biggest abuse of the nation’s national security apparatus in U.S. history.
When a hired gun testifies before any investigative committee, they have zero credibility. Feinstein knows that she’s placed her faith in a political operative hired to discredit the opposing candidate, in this case Trump. Simpson testified that he was asked by some unknown person to investigate Trump’s alleged ties to the Kremlin, fearing he’d be a compromised president. Yet, Simpson knew that that Russian colluion was Hillary’s main talking point during the waning days of the 2016 campaign. “The only way to set the record straight is to make the transcript public,” said Feinstein, explaining why she released the document. Feinstein clearly wanted to lend credibility to Simpson, as Grassley and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) ask the Justice Department to pursue criminal charges against Christopher Steele. Grassley and Graham want to find out if the FBI used the dossier for probable cause.
Feinstein wants to do everything possible to avoid looking into the Obama administration’s use of the FBI and Foreign Surveillance Intelligence Act [FISA] Court to obtain warrants to wiretap Trump campaign officials. If Obama’s FBI, Justice Department under Atty. Gen. Loretta Lynch or National Security Advisor Susan Rice used the dossier as probable cause to wiretap Trump and associates, it would be the worst abuse of the U.S. intelligence apparatus in U.S. history. Feintein insists that the GOP wants to stymie Mueller’s investigation into alleged collusion, yet has zero evidence that any collusion occurred with the Kremlin. Feinstein wants the public to believe Simpson, someone paid by GOP operatives and Hillary to sabotage Trump’s campaign. Former FBI Director James Comey refused to say whether he used the dossier to get FISA warrants to wiretap Trump campaign officials.
